Congressman Donald Payne (D-N.)(J.), a term of 12 members of Congress and former President of the Congress of the Black Caucus, died Tuesday at the age of 77.
The cause was complications of colon cancer, said his agency. It revealed in February that was treated for the disease, and his condition deteriorated in the last week.
“New Jersey has lost a noble civil servant, and the world has lost an incredible man,” read a statement from the Office of Payne.
